PrayerWalk Journal

Yes, I have already posted once today concerning prayer walking, however I felt I needed to post once again. I do not know if anyone reads my postings, but it feels great to write on how this journey has been going, what I have learned, and how it has affected my walk with God. Discipline and self-control have been the two things that are being tweaked in my character. The more disciplined I have been about going out and spending time with God, the closer I have become and feel towards God. Like God's word tells us, draw near to God and He will draw near to you. This is what happens. Tonight, I am having a trial run at prayer walking before I leave for Cochrane on Sunday. Last week, one of the pastors at the church my husband and I have been attending, asked if I would consider leading as he would be out of town. Well, here I am Wednesday evening, it is raining outside, not sure if the walking will still go ahead, and the possiblity of leading the group in prayer is on the h

Tonight I am facilitating a prayer walk. Considering the rainy weather out side I am not sure if it will take place, if not we will pray inside as usual. Here are some thoughts on prayer walking with a group. How to Prayer Walk 1. Form a Team YouÂ’ll be most effective in groups of two (or three if necessary). 2. Find a Territory You will be given a map of a specific neighborhood. You may need to drive to the area you will be walking, as you drive you can pray for the community/city. As you approach this area with sensitivity and wisdom, youÂ’ll discover the best way to cover it with prayer. 3. Follow a Topic Get your prayers rolling by praying along with scripture. Begin with the truths of Psalm 23 in this pamphlet or any other biblical promise that will help you pray with hope and blessing. DonÂ’t carry heavy Bibles. Carry a sheet or small portions of scriptures, and a pencil to record anything that stood out to share with the group later. 4. Finish with a Talk After youÂ’re f

Knowing God

Not sure how I ended up doing a word search in the Bible on the word comfort, but I have been blessed because I did. I believe in a world full of deception it is vital I know who my God is. Here are some of the scriptures that have the word comfort in the text. My prayer is that you will be blessed as much as I was in reading each one out loud. Websters Definition of comfort: to soothe in distress and sorrow, one that comforts, a state of, or anything that provides, ease and quiet enjoyment. O Great God of Comfort… · Genesis 5:29 He named him Noah [ Noah sounds like the Hebrew for comfort . ] and said, "He will comfort us in the labor and painful toil of our hands caused by the ground the LORD has cursed." · Ruth 2:13 "May I continue to find favor in your eyes, my lord," she said. "You have given me comfort and have spoken kindly to your servant—though I do not have the standing of one of your servant girls." · Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk th

Wow, I have not posted over the last week at all. There have been some awesome mornings of prayer walking and I did not miss a day, but to be disciplined enough to sit down and write was another issue. Finding out my sister who lives in Vancouver has Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma - Large cell B, a systematic disease sent me into a place of much prayer and being quiet before the Lord. Dealing with emotions and placing the circumstance into perspective have been hard for me. Living over 1000 km away, not able to walk along side, not able to help in anyway, has left me feeling like an outsider in my own family. Over the years this has always been hard when someone has become ill in Vancouver and I am not able to be there. Over the last week I have been hanging on to many verses from scripture, that have bought much comfort to my heart and emotions. The LORD God goes before you and will be with you; God will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Deuteronomy

Today will be a quiet day spending time in God's presence and loving family. I had places to go today, but being quiet at home is taking priority. This summer will be a quiet one. Over the last few days I have been waking up with a headache. I never have headaches unless something is wrong. So...rest is in order. I will take a prayer walk later today. Lani my flowerlady friend has inspired me to take a fast this week. I need to seek God if I am to take a full fast for a few days or just stay away from certain foods. I think I am leaning towards a full fast. Check out watchmen for the nations for devotional thoughts during this call to fast. I have been disciplined over the last month concerning walking everyday and journaling. God thank you for teaching me to hang on, and let you lead. I left my home crying tonight with the many different burdens there are to carry at this time. As I go out and talk with God concerning all that is going on, he really does comfort my so

My walk today was very pleasant and a comfort to my soul. The air was warm yet cool for the early morning. For some reason either I have never noticed before, or there are more robins here then ever before. This spring every time I go for a walk a robin or two has come to greet me. I really enjoy meeting the robins along my prayer walk journey. Reading the newspaper before heading out on my morning prayer walk gave me much to pray about and meditate on. A few are very scary and very, very, real. I can do one of three things, forget I read them and ignore it, think it won't effect me, or pray, the choice is mine. I mentioned a few of these to one of my teenagers and she thanked me for bringing to mind things that are overwhelming. Oh, a world that has gone mad. Here are the front page prayer concerns: 1. The next flu pandemic , (I learned a new word! Pandemic - epidemic or a large region ). This headline sparked a prayer for the world . My prayer was that God would have mercy

Travailing Prayer

“We are a generation that avoids pain at all costs. This is why there are so few intercessors. Most Christians operate on the shallowest levels of prayer, but God wants to take us into the deep levels of intercessory prayer that only a few ever experience. Deep, prolonged intercession is painful. It involves staying before God when everyone else has gone away or sleeps (Luke 22:45). It involves experiencing brokenness with the Father over those who continually rebel against Him. How many of us will experience this kind of fervent intercession?” Henry Blackaby Dear Intercessors, God is training us for deeper levels of intercession. He wants to teach us to travail in prayer. Jesus understood travailing prayer while He was on earth. In Luke 22:44 we read, “And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground”. Imagine travail of that nature. Prayer can be a very joyful experience, but there are times when we wrestle and t

I found an Orientation Guide by Dan R. Crawford that is the beginning of his co-authored book, "Prayer Walking". Note: You do need Adope Reader 7.0 to open the file for the orientation guide. Dan R. Crawford describes a prayer walker as a rock mover, rock moving he states is the job of an intercessor. When we are walking on site we are given a privilege of walking among the rocks. He also recommends that we have balance in our prayer journeys, time spent in our prayer closets and time walking among the rocks, (I love this analogy). I am feeling overwhelmed today with the thought of teaching a class on this topic. I pray God will grant to me clarity and boldness as I step out in obedience. I am more of the facilitator researcher type, then actually teaching. I am stepping out of comfort zone on this one. The sun is trying to shine this morning, oh, how I have missed sunny mornings. Thank you Lord for this day, open my eyes to see what You see, and grant to me a heart t

Over the last few days, "pray for Israel" has been going through my mind. Yesterday, during prayer time a women prayed a beautiful prayer for Israel. Tonight, I was a lost on how to pray and asked God to show me. I thought, well let's see if there are some prayer starts on praying for Israel on the internet. I found this great site full of wonderful stuff it is worth checking out. This site has a flash presentation of Psalm 83 . A must watch , I went right into intercession for Israel. I will continue to pray Psalm 83, as a prayer start. "Let them know that You, whose name is the Lord--that You alone are the Most High over all the earth." Prayer walking along the river tonight was refreshing. Sun shining through white clouds to the west, and black ominous clouds to the east. It was a delight to let some warmth from the sun touch my face. Two weeks of cloud cover is enough! Oh, it could be worse, I need to thank God even for the rain. As I was drivin

I took 64 pictures...can you believe it! I was having such a great time being a child of God's today. My new runners are rather dirty, but that is what they are for...walking. My kids think I am different/strange posting my pictures, but I feel if you are open to see it, there is beauty all around even on the prairies. My favorite place to walk is along the river (South Saskatchewan). There are many different trails that are along the banks, some straight and narrow, some steep and dangerous. Hope you enjoyed pictures from my prayer walk. P.S My husband asked me not to post pictures of myself or our family (I will honor this request), but he never told me not to post a picture of my feet. LOL My husband can't believe I took pictures as he put it of nothing...As mentioned I found the walk full of beauty.

A flu? A cold? Or just plain sick of dull rainy weather? Perhaps it is a mixture of all three. No walking today, however prayer has been my focus all day. It really is hard to see the world from the perspective of heaven, but God is teaching me to pray about all of the little events that fill my day. A few of the daily concerns brought tears and some did bring forth great delight, thank goodness God wants to hear it all. Grocery shopping was a main chore today that should have been done yesterday. I went in protest, procrastinating all of the way. When I leave home with this kind of attitude it is a sure sign prayer is needed. It is as if the mood went with me, casting shadows onto others. "Grumpy rude people," was my first thought, but...as usual, God spoke to my heart. "Pray and ask to have a different heart attitude...one of gratitude and love." I must say, shopping was a lot easier to finish with a smile on my face and peace in my heart, no matter what w

Hymn on Prayer, James Montgomey, 1818

Prayer is the soul's sincere desire, Uttered or unexpressed; The motion of hidden fire, That trembles in the breast. Prayer is the burden of a sigh, The falling of a tear, The upward glancing of an eye, When none but God is near. Prayer is the simplest for of speech That infant lips can try, Prayer the sublimest strains that reach The Majesty on High. Prayer is the Christian's vital breath, The Christian's native air, His watchword at the gates of death: He enters heaven with a prayer. Prayer is the contrite sinner's voice, Returning from his ways; While angels in their songs rejoice, And cry, 'Behold, he prays.' O thou by whom we come to God, The Life, the Truth, the Way, The path of prayer teyself hast trod: Lord, teach us how to pray. Amen.

I have been looking for a book by S.D. Gordon - Quiet Talks on Prayer and decided yesterday to see if Emmanuel had it in their library, they did. Today, I was searching for something under my bed, I found a box with my collection of little prayer books, guess what? I have the book. All I had to do was look at home, not somewhere else. Life, every circumstance can lead us to think how we really do look other places, but not where the heart belongs, in the presence of God. A prayer thought from S.D. Gordon: "The greatest people on earth today are the people who pray. I do not mean those who talk about prayer; nor those who say they believe in prayer; nor yet those who can explain about prayer; I mean those people who take time and pray. They have not time. It must be taken from something else. This something else is important. Very important, and pressing, but still less important than prayer." Walking today will not happen until later. The rain is coming down rather

I decided, I really do not like cloudy days, sunshine and lots of light does my soul well. Rain has been the constant for a few days with a forecast of a few more days yet. Walking tonight was refreshing, everything was green and growing. The air was crisp, with rays of sunshine bursting forth from the overcast sky. No great revelations or fantastic prayers tonight, however I was lead to thank God for all that He has given to me, even the raining days I do not appreciate. When the sun does shine it is refreshing and cleansing, not only to the earth but also my soul. Over the last few days the topic of our hearts has been coming up in conversation and thought over and over, especially concerning our teenagers. Turning away from relationship with God and others is truly a matter of the heart. Here are a few scripture verses I have been contemplating upon. "Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline will drive it far from him." Proverbs 22:15 "
