Control
Yesterday I was browsing through health websites when I found myself on the Canadian Johnson and Johnson web page. They were asking a question which I found intriguing so I answered it. Following is the question and my response:
How do you keep from blowing your top and damaging relationships?
I believe through daily spiritual rhythms and practices I have set the foundation and safe guard towards not blowing my top and leaving behind me damaged relationships.
The first step, is to take time to be alone with God, asking him to guide and direct me through out the day. My love relationship with him is vital in maintaining my cool in the heat of conflict. Knowing how much he loves me makes a difference in how I respond to others.
Second, is to let the Bible (his word), change my heart by not demanding my own way, but taking time to listen well, hold my tongue, and stop anger immediately through praying breathe prayers. Not blowing my top and keeping control of my tongue, is a step towards learning to love others well.
Our words and choice of actions can bring life to a relationship or they can totally end all forms of communication. It is my daily choice to choose life not death concerning the relationships I have in my life. Growing in grace is a life long journey.
How do you keep from blowing your top and damaging relationships?
Over the last several weeks my husband and I have been extremely ill, yes we did have H1N1 and my husband had Salmonella poisoning. I apologize for not posting or letting anyone know. Energy has been a possession I hoarded, while my strength slowly has returned.
Please pray I will get caught up with writing my papers that are all due at the end of this month. I have a knack of falling behind! My youngest son will be home on December 16th, he has been in Quebec since September. It will be wonderful to have him home.

Just like how vital it is to remain trusting in Him so we can become slow to anger, so it is when we approach His throne! God bless you always and keep you.
Love your article, I think you covered everything I would have mentioned. I too notice that when I do not spend enough time with God, I start getting a lot more impatient. And I'm a big fan of Proverbs 15:1 'A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.'
Merry christmas !

Wonderful post...I have practiced these steps for years, and through knowledge and willingness to allow time for my heart to change has kept my relationships strong and lasting. It is a matter of choice!
Take care, get better, and God bless you!

It's been a long time...I love you. My prayers will be said for you and your husband's complete healing from the flu. I am so sorry to hear that you both have been through that physical malady. My prayers will also be said for you to diligently get the papers that you need to get done hopefully earlier than you anticipated.
My love to you and your family and may this Christmas season be one that fills your hearts with more joy than you can possibly imagine all because of Him.
Love you my friend,
Alleluiabelle
