Life is a Gift
It is now 5:30 a.m. I have been up for an hour. I believe the reason could be the change of life thing kicking in, I am sure! My solution was not to waste an hour laying in bed, but to write. Here is my unedited poem from an early morning attempt to pen some poetry, and pray, until sleep arrives taking me back to bed.
Life is a gift
or so I have heard it said
yet often like other gifts
it is disregarded,
taken for granted, abused,
not embraced or cherished.
Each life is unique,
full of colors and textures,
to create a beautiful portrait
that fits into a larger frame
marked by grace.
When pictures fall
or fade away
into darkness
colors are washed away
and textures
become broken and dull
only loves
unconditional color
can bring back light
to reveal a present
worth a second chance
to open and explore
numerous new possibilities.
Life is a gift
to hold,
and explore
questions to ask are:
how has your portrait been painted?
who has painted it?
what color is your world?

(who is now going back to bed!)
I guess the poem was ready to be birth.

Sojourner--I have missed your kind words and Yvette your post was incrediable.
It takes a thought to make a word
And it takes some words to make an action
And it takes some work to make it work
It takes some good to make it hurt
It takes some bad for satisfaction - Jason Mraz
It takes You for me to realise life is gift and to appreciate, to live the life we live. Thanks for sharing. A night to remember :)
Life certainly IS a precious gift never to be taken for granted. I love your poem and these words taken from it:
"Each life is unique,
full of colors and textures,
to create a beautiful portrait
that fits into a larger frame
marked by grace."
Absolutely beautiful, my friend. I'm so happy I stopped in to say hi and as a result, received this wonderful gift from you to all of us.
We are heading out tomorrow for my husband's heart cath in Burlington, VT. scheduled for Wednesday. Please keep him and I in your prayers.
Love you,
Alleluiabelle
GIFT indeed!
Blessings.

Thank you all stopping by and leaving a comment! I seem to be in a completion season of my life so the next season will be open to release new things. I know prolific writing is coming again soon...but for the next few weeks I am in completion mode. Love to all of you.
