We Belong to You

Image
Lately, I have been trying not to post others words, however, today I changed my mind! I was longing to enter into worship and to know my God in a deeper way. The first thought I had was to go and listen to music at Spirit and Song. In my journey of listening to various worship songs, I found this song "We Belong to You" by Trevor Thompson. I must say this song pours forth my heart desire: That as a community of people who follow Christ we will awake each day saying, "Lord God, Father in Heaven, we/I belong to you." These words are going into my journal. I have attached the link please do listen and perhaps as I did you will join in and sing letting these words become your own. We Belong to You Lyrics Refrain We belong to you, O Lord of our longing, We belong to you. In our daily living, dying and rising We belong to you. 1. In the waters of your mercy, When the old becomes the new, Souls united in the myst'ry: We belong to you. 2. Filled with gifts and fil...

A Great way to Worship

Tonight I was catching up on reading through my reader RRS blogs and several sites recommended to checkout page cxvi hymns for modern ears. John Piper's blog has a few other points about this project worth reading. I enjoy listening to Misty Edwards who leads through the spirit, but I must say it is nice to have a modern tone that uses the richness of the old hymns. You can preview the music before downloading.

Adoramus Te

Murray downloaded some new music for me, I asked for instrumental or classical. I have a new favorite, Adormamus Te by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (1526 - 1594). Then I found words by Saint Francis, who acually wrote them before the music. Not sure how the two go together or if they even do? What I have gathered is both St. Francis and Patestrina had hearts to worship God. Shortly before his death in October of 1226, St. Francis wrote his Testament which contained his last thoughts concerning the order he founded. In it he urged his followers to remain faithful to the rules of the order and the prayer below is taken from this work. This prayer by St. Francis was inspired by the Antiphon: Adoramus te, Christe, et benedicimus tibi; quia per sanctam Crucem tuam redemisti mundi, which was part of the Liturgy for Good Friday. This Antiphon has a long and venerable history as a prayer in and of itself. Pope St. Gregory the Great recommended it (Liber Responsalis, PL 78, 805) as did the ...

Wondrous Cross

Thoughts from when I survey the Wondrous Cross. Where such love and sorrow meet. Pour content on all my pride. Love so amazing so divine. Love demands my soul… Love demands my soul… Love demands my soul… My life, my all. Jesus, life is hard, but you show the way daily.  You gave the greatest gift to mankind your life.  Forgive me when pride exalts it’s self.  Forgive me when love does not reign in my life.  Forgive me when I do not seek you first.  Forgive me dear Lord.  Take me I pray to the place where love and sorrow meet.  Jesus thank you for hope today.  Amen.
